WHY A TASK GROUP?
The purpose of the Geriatric Mood Disorders Task Group is to address the specific needs of older adults with mood disorders from diverse backgrounds, including improving clinical care, promoting education and collaborative research, and engaging in advocacy efforts.
Since inception, the Geriatric Mood Disorders Task Group has been a forum for the exchange of ideas and collaborative research across NNDC member sites. The group has established a comprehensive database of clinical and cognitive outcomes among older adults who have depression and bipolar disorder, as well as a set of age-matched controls, collected as part of research protocols at five different member sites. This Momentum Grant database has provided a platform for further study and current projects.
