October is Depression Awareness Month. One in five Americans has first hand experience with a mood disorder like depression and bipolar illness, yet nearly a quarter of Americans still incorrectly consider depression a sign of weakness. Those who suffer from depression are not weak or broken, and they are not at blame for their illness. As a national community, it is our responsibility to support these people in their efforts to lift themselves out of the darkness.

That’s what the Defeat Depression Dash is all about: banding together as a community to have fun, smile, and defeat depression. Join us this Saturday, October 24 as we run, walk, and spread sunshine through the beautiful grounds of Domino’s Farms. This is a great family event, too: participants will receive coupons for free entry to Domino’s Petting Farm for up to three family members.

There is still time to register – you can do so here. Or join us early Saturday morning for race-day registration. If you can’t join us for the race but still would like to participate in some way, you can donate here to benefit this and other NNDC programs designed to erase stigma and improve the quality of life of those with depressive and bipolar illnesses.
