Hall of Fame golfer Se Ri Pak talks mental illness stigma after touring U-M Depression Center

ANN ARBOR — Depression is a topic people often find difficult to discuss. It’s the case here in the United States as well as back in Se Ri Pak’s home country of South Korea.
On Tuesday, the 38-year-old Hall of Fame golfer visited the University of Michigan Depression Center in hopes of gaining a better understanding of the mental illness.
While the National Network of Depression Centers is the charity partner of the 2016 Volvik
Championship, Pak said her visit was out of personal curiosity.
“We know the same thing is a problem in our country,” she said. “That’s why we’re here. We care about those, and we trying to learn more because it’s hard to talk about depression to friends and family. (read article)
