The Florida State University College of Medicine, Department of Behavioral Sciences and Social Medicine (BSSM) seeks candidates for a Full Time, Tenure-Track Faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor Rank.
The applicant should have either a PhD in the social or behavioral sciences or public health, MD, or comparable degree. The Department of Behavioral Sciences and Social Medicine is committed to hiring a diverse faculty, and thus scientists from all backgrounds, especially backgrounds underrepresented in science and medicine, are strongly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to continue an independent line of research as indicated by a strong record of publications and current extramural funding commensurate with their rank. We are seeking to expand our research programs focused on behavioral interventions, with a particular emphasis on mental health and/or substance use research. Although specific topic of research is open, we are seeking to complement existing programs related to health equity, maternal-child and lifespan health, and healthy aging. Our department seeks candidates whose work aligns with the college of medicine mission, which emphasizes patient-centered care for the underserved and community-engaged research. Candidates will also be expected to engage in medical education. Candidates who study minority and/or medically underserved populations are especially encouraged to apply. As a community-based medical school, the FSU College of Medicine is particularly well-suited for conducting research in primary care and community settings.
