The Helen and Arthur E Johnson Depression Center at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus opened in the fall of 2008 with the purpose of improving the lives of people with depression and other mood disorders through clinical excellence, innovative  research, community outreach, and education. Strengths of the Depression Center include treatment of mood disorders through comprehensive evaluation, second opinions, state-of-the-art pharmacotherapy and evidence-based psychotherapies; innovative research and clinical trials aimed at developing new prevention and treatment approaches; partnerships  with community providers, including primary care physicians, to improve depression recognition, treatment, and outcomes; and education and training programs for professionals on new treatment options and ways to improve access to care.
