The Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Psychiatryincludes more than 600 affiliated psychiatrists and psychologists who provide state-of-the-art assessment and care for adults and children with mental health disorders.  Clinical services include an outpatient clinic; specialty clinics for depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, schizophrenia, autism, and eating disorders; addiction management services, including intensive case management and care for adolescents and young adults; two large child psychiatry services; an adult ADHD clinic; two neuropsychological assessments units; an urgent care program; and a 24-bed medical psychiatry inpatient unit.  The Department has the largest clinical research program in the hospital, with ground-breaking studies in neuroscience, genetics, and the assessment of new and established treatments for mental health disorders. The Department of Psychiatry has earned the #1 ranking in psychiatry in the U.S. News & World Report annual survey “America’s Best Hospitals” for fourteen consecutive years. Massachusetts General Hospital is an affiliate of McLean Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital which are members of the Partners HealthCare System, Inc., this allows for comprehensive coordination of medical and psychiatric services.

NNDC Announces Passage of Important Mental Health Legislation

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - A major step was taken in the fight against depression. The National Network of Depression Centers (NNDC) is proud to announce the passage of the ENHANCED Act of 2009 as part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (H.R. 3590), on March 21, 2010. The ENHANCED Act will establish national “centers of excellence” for the treatment of depression and bipolar disorders.
